Project Next Students Explore Careers at BizCon 2025

EMpowering the next generation

On September 12, 2025, Project Next Career Coaches guided 66 high school students to BizCon, a one-day business expo designed to connect, inspire, and elevate. This exciting event gave students from North County San Diego the chance to step outside the classroom and into the world of entrepreneurship, innovation, and career exploration.

Beyond the classroom

At BizCon, students weren’t just spectators—they were active participants. From networking with local business owners to seeing live pitches, the day opened doors to industries and opportunities many had never considered before.

The results speak for themselves:

  • 83% of students discovered new career paths they hadn’t thought about before
  • 76% identified roles that matched their passions and strengths
  • 72% walked away feeling more confident about their future direction

What Students Loved Most

The event wasn’t just about career options—it was about building confidence and making real connections. Here’s what students shared about their favorite takeaways:

  • “Talking one-on-one with business owners about their journeys.”
  • “Seeing real pitches—it gave me a glimpse into the world of marketing.”
  • “Freedom to explore different industries and ask questions.”

These firsthand experiences showed students that success comes in many forms—and that their unique strengths have a place in the workforce of tomorrow.

Why bizcon matters for north county students

For many teens, the step from high school into college or a career feels overwhelming. Events like BizCon bridge that gap by giving students a supportive environment to ask questions, explore options, and imagine what’s possible.

By connecting with local entrepreneurs, community leaders, and innovative companies, students left with a clearer vision of what’s next—and a strong belief that they can achieve it!

Looking Ahead with project next

At Project Next, we believe every student deserves the chance to discover their potential and prepare for life after high school. Experiences like BizCon are proof that when students are given the tools, mentorship, and opportunities, they rise to the occasion.

The future of business is bright—and with the right guidance, our students are ready to own their NEXT.

Choosing a career may seem like a huge, once-in-a-lifetime decision, but the truth is, it’s a journey of discovery that starts with one simple step: understanding yourself. The good news? You don’t have to have it all figured out. With the right tools and strategies, you can start identifying your interests, values, and strengths, and how they align with different career paths.
