Project Next Events
We offer events that focus on college and career preparation and workforce development for high school students.
Educational & Career Events That Move Students Forward
Project Next hosts hands-on educational and career-focused events designed to help high school students explore options, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward their future. Each experience connects students with professionals, mentors, and opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.

Interview Skills Day
Interview Skills Day prepares students to approach interviews with confidence and clarity. During this on campus event, local professionals lead small group sessions focused on essential interview skills, professional communication, and first impressions. Students gain practical tools they can immediately apply to part time jobs, internships, and future career opportunities.
Connect to Careers
Connect to Careers is an interactive breakfast that brings high school students together with professionals from a wide range of industries. Through meaningful table conversations, students explore career pathways, learn about in demand skills, and build confidence in their next steps. This event prioritizes mentorship, authentic dialogue, and real world connection over traditional career fair booths.
#Adulting Workshops
#Adulting Workshops equip students with practical life skills they need beyond high school. Led by Career Coaches during the school day, sessions are shaped by student interest and focus on real world topics such as time management, setting goals, making appointments, and building professional habits. These workshops help students feel prepared for life after graduation.
Money Matters
Money Matters provides structured financial literacy education throughout the school year. In partnership with Financial Beginnings, industry professionals deliver engaging presentations on topics such as budgeting, credit, saving, and financial decision making. Students build foundational money management skills that support long term stability and independence.
Career Chats
Career Chats connect students with local professionals during the school day in the Future Center. Based on student interests, guest speakers share their career journeys, daily responsibilities, and lessons learned along the way. These conversations expand awareness of possible pathways and help students envision themselves in a variety of roles and industries.
Career Expeditions
Career Expeditions take students off campus and into the workplace for an inside look at companies and industries in action. During these site visits, students tour facilities, meet employees, and gain insight into the skills and education required for different roles. These experiences make career possibilities tangible and accessible.
Networking Hours
Networking Hours provide students with a guided opportunity to practice professional relationship building in a supportive environment. Hosted after school by partner organizations, these events allow students to connect with local professionals, strengthen communication skills, and build confidence in professional settings.
Financial Aid Support
Project Next offers individualized financial aid support for students and families through a part time Financial Aid Coach, depending on grant funding. Students receive assistance with financial aid applications, understanding award letters, and navigating post secondary funding options. This support helps remove barriers to college and career training programs.
READI
The READI program, in partnership with the University of San Diego Burnham Moores Center for Real Estate, introduces students to the wide range of careers within commercial real estate. Over a semester, participants attend a structured series of sessions featuring industry professionals and site visits. Students gain in depth exposure to a dynamic field and commit to the full experience to deepen their understanding.
First Time Job Fair
The First Time Job Fair connects high school students with local employers seeking entry level and part time employees. In partnership with the San Diego Workforce Partnership, this annual event gives students direct access to hiring managers and real job opportunities, helping them take their first step into the workforce.
